Love and Listen to the sounds of "Lyrical Thunder"

About Armin Reynolds the ThunderManiac
Armin's music is broad spectrum of hip hop vast sub-genres. He is greatly influenced by his art background, and his gift of gab.

He would use these talents on his debut album, Behind the Eyes of Armin Reynolds. This album is based on his musical development and life experiences told in metaphorical way.

The album relives that period of time between late 1998 to 2003. During that time Armin was new college graduate, working various jobs, enjoying the nightlife and stumbling into a few dark and sometimes tragic moments.

But this album marks his perseverance and determination to continue on in the face of adversity.

Now that bring us to present were Armin has completed his second album and will be touring in the United States in summer of 2009.

Listen and love because "Backpacker's Don't Bounce"

I am Raystar. I was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Making music has been my passion as well as my release for over 13 years now.

My music is inspired by real people and events in my life. It’s not always serious and it’s not always silly, but it is always honest.

I want my music to relate to people and inspire creative thought as well as just be something you put on when you can’t think of anything else to listen to.

I have performed with Atmosphere and opened for Dr. Octagon.

It has been said that I have a sound similar to Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, or Del The Funkyhomosapian.

I think I have a sound all my own, but if that is what I remind people of at least I’m in good company.

I currently have two albums out now “Raystar Volume and a ½” and “Low-fi, Broke, and Frustrated”.

I also will be releasing a new record with Siq in the not to distant future, but in the mean time check out “Stonehenge diaries” featuring me and other talented artists from Siq Records. Stay tuned!!

CHECK OUT WHAT SOME OTHER FOLKS HAVE TO SAY

I came across this talented true “Hip Hop” artist who is stirring it up in Cleveland Ohio. It is clear that Raystar more than believes that Hip Hop is not dead… he represents the big picture in Hip Hop and is waking life.

Raystar’s lyrics aren’t about platinum chains or big whips… he questions the smoke and mirrors that we all accept as our reality of what we as a society should desire.

I appreciate how he is rapping from a place that true to the challenges you have to face “on the grind” day in and day out as you look to following your dreams.

Raystar knows that he will probably never be an overnight success, which Raystar seems completely ok with.

Currently Raystar is looking to stay true to the words that are being spit and then look at the best ways to get his music in front of the right people.

Raystar is the real deal and through a little bit of patience, dedication, focus and the intention that his message and vibe will reach the people who can appreciate and feel the tone and overall message.

If you are “feeling” Raystar be sure to check him out and support this talented and hungry cat on the grind.

Social commentary and the way life is for the struggling musician is the main themes of Raystar’s album “Raystar Volume 1.”His lyrics are something that we can all relate to. Everyone can understand his criticism of society, because what he is saying is so easy to see.

In addition to that, the struggling musician theme can transcend to all walks of life to everyone who is struggling to get by and achieve their dreams.

In a way he kind of reminds of KRS-One with the lyrical content of his songs.

As for the beats, they are cool. There is a lot of use of organic samples. Many of the songs utilize a jazz kind of sound.

The album is really organic sounding. I think this is a good thing. It doesn’t sound over processed or overly electronic. This is something that you can just throw on and listen to and relax. It can also supply a good source of conversation through the commentary that is provided in the lyrics.

Overall I think this is a great album. I highly recommend you pick it up. You will enjoy it.

If you are tired of what mainstream rap offers with its misogyny, gangsterisms and the flashy image it represents then you will enjoy the more intelligent serving of Raystar.

This 26 year old uses a unique trumpet hook to introduce this EP’s first track, “Backpackers Don’t Bounce,” documenting the struggle of an underground artist trying to break into a rap scene overrun with gangstas, hos and bling.

Raystar refuses to sacrifice originality in exchange for tight rhymes, and his passion is evident in tracks like “How You Feeling Today” and “Just Fight Through It”. The acoustic guitar riff behind “How Far Will You Go” adds a fittingly somber backing for a lament about urban poverty.

Cameos by AKT/AKtion and D-Roof prove Raystar plays well with others.

Thoughtful lyrics are his biggest asset, as Raystar refuses to fit into anyone’s mold, but instead creatively shapes his own.
